We are Entering a New Era of Innovation

Artificial intelligence is beginning to make its way into our daily lives.

I have only recently realized its vast potential to automate tasks and generate unique ideas. AI will soon be an indispensable tool for businesses and individuals alike.

This is the first in what will likely be countless articles and videos that I publish on this topic and for good reason. The train has left the station and from a professional standpoint, we’re left with two options: adapt or die.

Using AI to be Creative

The hardest part of most creative endeavors is just getting started. There are few things more intimidating than staring at a blank page as thoughts race through your mind, or worse, as no thoughts seem to come.

But now, with platforms such as MidJourney, Stable Diffusion and ChatGPT, idea generation is streamlined. A few simple prompts and visual cues and your blank page is now bursting with images and information.

Using these platforms and others like them provides a launching pad of inspiration and new perspectives.

It’s important to understand that these platforms are just tools. The best hammer in the world is useless in the hands of someone who doesn’t know what a nail is. But as more people have access to these tools, especially in creative industries, how does one differentiate themselves?

Any agency or studio that boasts having the latest and greatest technology at their disposal is just stating the obvious. In the modern world, that’s simply a prerequisite. What you do with the tools is what matters.

I believe that the ability to capitalize on human imagination is what (kind of ironically) will differentiate great creatives in a world of artificial intelligence.

I always go back to creating videos as it’s what I know best, and it’s what led me to embracing my creative mindset.

As camera equipment became more advanced, the demand for authentic content rose. Almost all viral videos are filmed on a cell phone camera. As humans, we crave humanity, and that’s not something AI can provide on its own. It’s a means to an end, not the end itself.

Where Do We Go From Here?

The transformative potential is undeniable, and while having the ability to reshape society in ways that are difficult to predict, it’s critical for us to anticipate the change new AI technology will bring.

It’s easy to get caught up in the hysteria surrounding new technology and automation, but many forget that it isn’t the first time humans have felt threatened by a new contemporary force the world hasn’t seen before.

Past innovative eras such as the Industrial Revolution and the Dot Com Boom led to job losses in certain industries, they also created a slew of new jobs that would have never existed otherwise.

In a world of abundance, with little to no scarcity, it’s been argued that we won’t look at things like money as a status trait anymore. Society today has a soft caste system that is built, generally speaking, on how much money you do or don’t have.

Some may even argue that money will become obsolete and AI computation enters as the new currency. After all, currency is a direct representation of energy and if energy is free thanks to technology, then we could potentially use other things in its place, but I digress.

I know it’s a lot to take in but one thing is for certain, AI will make our lives easier. Whether that is a positive or negative is still yet to be seen.

Knowing how to use it is one thing, but recognizing its strengths and weaknesses while tying in your real life human thoughts and experiences is what will ultimately unlock your full potential.

Could AI potentially lead to major changes in economic systems and social structures? Maybe.

Could it potentially render the traditional economic concepts of money and labor obsolete? Sure, but the thesis of the world stays the same: Smart people create smart products that are used by other smart people to make even smarter products ad infinitum. And we, as consumers, reap the benefits most of all.
